Moisture-Resistant BORAL Wetstop for Wet Area Walls and Ceilings

BORAL Wetstop is a moisture-resistant plasterboard lining developed for walls and ceilings in bathrooms, kitchens, shower cubicles and other wet area rooms.

BORAL Wetstop is designed as a lining board for wet area walls and ceilings, where it acts as a moisture-resistant substrate beneath ceramic tile finishes. The board is fixed to wall framing and can be used in bathrooms, kitchens and shower cubicles. It is identified by its blue paper liner and is available with recessed or square edge details to suit different installation and finishing requirements.

Product Sizes and Wet Area Applications

BORAL Wetstop is available in 9.5 mm and 12.5 mm thicknesses, with a standard width of 1220 mm. Standard sheet lengths include 2440 mm, 2743 mm and 3048 mm, while other sheet lengths may be produced depending on order quantity. The approximate board weight is 7.70 kg/m² for 9.5 mm sheets and 10.1 kg/m² for 12.5 mm sheets. The supplied installation diagrams also show its use at tiled wall junctions, shower bases and tap or pipe penetrations when combined with the specified sealing components.

Product Standards and Optional Backing

The stated product standard is BS 1230 Part 1 and ASTM C630, with product testing referenced to BS 1230 Part 1 and ASTM C473. Upon request, BORAL Wetstop may be supplied with PVC backing on the reverse side. This backing is intended for humid areas, where it acts as a moisture barrier and helps prevent sagging.
