BORAL Firestop for Fire-Rated Wall and Ceiling Systems
BORAL Firestop is a specialised plasterboard developed for fire-rated walls, ceilings, beams and columns in residential and commercial construction.
BORAL Firestop is designed for fire-rated lining applications across wall, ceiling, beam and column systems. It may be installed in single or multiple layers to achieve different fire-rated and acoustical performances according to the relevant system design. The board is suitable for residential and commercial construction and is available with recessed or square edge details for different fixing and finishing requirements.
Product Sizes and System Applications
BORAL Firestop is available in 12.5 mm and 16 mm thicknesses, with a standard width of 1220 mm. Standard sheet lengths include 2440 mm, 2743 mm and 3048 mm, while other sheet lengths may be produced depending on the order size. The stated board weights are 1.050 kg/m² for the 12.5 mm board and 13.00 kg/m² for the 16 mm board. The supplied system illustrations show applications in vertical wall systems and suspended ceiling systems using specified framing, fixing centres and board layers.
Testing and Installation Requirements
The stated product testing references BS 1230 Part 1 and ASTM C473. BORAL Firestop should be supplied and installed in the required 12.5 mm or 16 mm thickness, as shown on the relevant drawings. Installation and finishing must follow the manufacturer’s specification and the approved fire-rated system arrangement.
